💰BEST Affordable Dupes for Sephora’s BEST SELLER Skincare Products 💸: For ALL Skin Types

💰BEST Affordable Dupes for Sephora’s BEST SELLER Skincare Products 💸: For ALL Skin Types

Welcome back beauties! We’re gonna start something new with these Saturday videos. For now, bye Fel 🙂 (Fel: Byeee!) Starting this week, every Saturday Fel and I will each take a video and dive into topics or things that are specific to our skin type. So for this video, I looked through Sephora’s best-selling skincare list, picked products that I was most familiar with, scanned through my brain, and scoured the depths of the internet to find affordable dupes for each of them. My personal philosophy is that if you can save money, save your money girl! If you know a product that works well with your skin, but it happens to be more expensive, look at the active ingredients and see if you can find a product with similar ingredients that are more affordable. So this is what we’re gonna be covering most of today. Let’s get started ~ Let’s start with SK-II’s Pitera Facial Treatment Essence. This is a holy grail for many people. So Pitera is a fancy name for galactomyces ferment filtrate. That is a mouthful! And it is a bio ingredient derived from yeast fermentation that resembles our skin’s natural moisturizing factors. And it contains over FIFTY micronutrients like, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and organic acids, to condition the skin’s natural function. SK-II is something that Felicia and I have both had for a few years now, and it’s something that we just generally don’t gravitate towards as much. Many many people on reddit, on blogs, on the internet – everywhere – have said Missha is the number one dupe for SK-II. So 90% of this [Time Revolution Essence] is made up of Himalayan purple barley yeast extract, which contains a rich amount of amino acids and peptides to help the skin’s cellular renewal and improve collagen synthesis. Fermented yeast extract also plays a role in soothing skin irritation, keeps skin hydrated and moisturized, and reduces skin damage. So is Missha really a dupe for SK-II? It’s yes and no. We both contain a form of yeast, but these forms are quite different. Yeast extract comes from a pasteurization process, whereas fermentation of yeast comes about when you make alcohols or even bread. And it’s when the yeast cells run out of oxygen and begins to ferment. So THIS is why SK-II charges the amount of money that it does. But if you do want to try the galactomyces ferment filtrate, there are three other products that you can try. One of them is the CosRX Galactomyces 95 Toner Balancing Essence. So this is formulated with 95% of the galactomyces ferment filtrate. So if you want to see if your skin will like [it], this is a great start. And there’s also niacinamide, as well as hyaluronic acid, to help you soothe and moisturize your skin. So this is the CosRX. There’s also Purito. This one is the Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence. It’s made with 92% galacto ferment filtrate and has 5% niacinamide. So these two [Purito & CosRX] are quite similar. And in the Purito, there’s also yeast extract, as well as rice probiotic bacteria. So this is pretty interesting! I would highly recommend the Purito Essence, as well as the CosRX. And the last one that I want to mention is the iUNIK. Hopefully I’m pronouncing that right… The Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner. It’s made with 70% rose flower water and 10% ferment filtrate so I feel like this is more comparable. And it smells a lot like Fresh Deep Rose Hydration Toner with the floating roses in there. But I thought I just mentioned this because it does have 10% of the galactomyces ferment filtrate. So if you are more dry skin, if you have more sensitive skin, this is great. There’s no fragrance in here, but it does smell heavily – heavily – of roses. So there you have it – SK-II! Next we have the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro. So THIS is something that I’ve repurchased many times in the past. And then [at] the beginning of Beauty Within, we loved using everything Drunk Elephant. But I think there’s a reason why Felicia and I both haven’t been repurchasing a lot of their products. It’s not that they’re not GOOD. There’s a reason why they sell like hotcakes and are best-sellers on Sephora. For us, we found alternatives or we just tend to gravitate towards other products. So for Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro specifically, the star ingredients are the six rare African oils. And there’s also a ceramide complex, as well as hyaluronic acid and fermented green tea extract, which is really high in antioxidants. The ingredients that are in Lala Retro are MASSIVELY and HEAVILY moisturizing and very very good for your skin. Especially if you’re leaning more towards dry/dehydrated. What I’m SO excited about is to share with you guys the Paula’s Choice Omega Complex Moisturizer. This has just completely taken over Drunk Elephant and my heart

    Yes to extra content 😍

  • Casper R. says:

Avoid galactomyces if you do have fungal acne because it will only worsen and spread the problem since fungal acne, unlike any other acne, it is an overgrowth of YEAST that hangs around from the hair follicles and galactomyces is a nutrient dense form of yeast and will only feed the already existent yeast from your pores.

  • Zarin Tasnim says:

Can u review slup niacid? Is it better than the ordinary one?

  • Susan Vong says:

we need more videos like this !

I’m confused. The Ordinary suggests mixing its pure L-Ascorbic Acid with pretty much anything. But, if you mix it with a product containing water, doesn’t it loose like 80% of its efficacy? Even if you mix it with a non-water based product, if you put it on your skin, and the skin is still hydrated, won’t that water oxidize the powder making it less efficient as well??

  • Dannie. team natural Rowe says:

What a way to start your vacay is with a good video from my favorite beauties and i have the dupe from the the inkey list the Tranexamic night time treatment and i absolutely love it !! I picked it up during the sephora sale and got 20% off !!! Love you ladies !!!💗💗💗💗💗🍹🍹🍹🍹☀️☀️☀️

For future videos, would love more dupes for green tea/rice/mugworth products if you can. I know they're a dime a dozen now in K-beauty, but just in case you guys can manage that, that would be great. So far, I have nothing but praise for this new series you've started. SOOO wonderful and such a treat to watch. Thank you for your time and effort in making this <3 sharing with all my family and friends now…

  • Nicole Simone says:

  • Sue says:

Thank you very much for the product recommendations! Already so tempted to add some products to my skincare routine <3

  • Brandon Byrd says:

The Tatcha Water Cream is like my holy grail moisturizer. I keep coming back to it, but I’m really curious about the Make P:rem Micro Tension Cream to see if it gives me everything I need like the TWC. I agree with you about Drunk Elephant. While I do LOVE the Framboos Glycolic Night Serum most of their stuff is way overpriced. I didn’t really notice much of difference when using their products

  • Carlie Kitzmiller says:

Have you tried Paula’s choice new fave moisturizer with electrolytes? I heard you can feel the burst so thought it might be a similar feeling as the Tatcha water cream

  • Ta Vang says:

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution actually did nothing for me

  • Laura says:

You guys are becoming one of my new faves. I watched a video where you reviewed some fresh beauty (bought the soy face wash and the rose toner, verdict is not out) and you had me going back to my Dr Jart+ green cream, the one in the tube…. I don't think I gave it a good enough chance in the first place, but it is a bit magical and can kick red out quickly! Thanks for that reminder.

  • near ramos says:

I hope you can come up with an episode/series where you take video questions from viewers that need help with their skin issues.

  • airemay says:

I can't wait to try the Purito deep sea cream. I used the Belief aqua bomb over the summer and while I found it to be a lovely moisturizer, I finished using it in just a couple months and for nearly $40, I was bummed at how quickly I went through it.

  • jarose29 says:

The missha gave me bumps 😟 I wanted to love it😒 I’ve never tried the Ski essence..

  • RedElegance says:

You guys need to do a review of Amazon's Belei line.

  • Leanna Lara says:

Can you do a video on back-ne lol

  • Lily XU says:

Kosmea's rosehip oil is the best ; )

  • Katherine Tao says:

Rowena- try the Clearly corrective! I feel like half the bad reviews are from people who never use sunscreen so it just cancels out. It is also PHENOMENAL for asian skin. I love it over Glow Recipe Pineapple, Herbivore Prism, even the COSRX triple c serum!!

  • Diana Bekenovna says:

Nice video, so informative! Please make more videos like that.

I have a question, what did you in your early 20s?

  • Alice Del Fante says:

I currently use the Clinique moisture surge hydrating concentrate + moisture surge intense creme. I have dry and dehydrated skin and it works well, but I was wondering if there is something more affordable on the market especially because I live in Switzerland and here we don't have as much products even at Sephora, in my city you can't find all the brands as in USA. Have you ever tried Clinique products? What's your opinion on them? Are there more affordable dupes? Love your channel <3 greetings from Switzerland

  • Eka Argarin says:

I swear by the SK-II pitera essence. It helped my face with brightening and hydration without feeling heavy, my skin loves it! I have tried the missha as well but it didn't give me the same effect

  • Kristine Baduria says:

Full KIEHL’S review please!!!! And dupes

  • Kim Lam says:

I’ve seen so many people saying Missha and Secret Key are dupes for SKII, and I wanted it to save money so I tried. BUT in the end, I had to bust out the piggy bank and go back to SKII. 🤦‍♀️

  • Jinge Hu says:

The rose ingredient in Biossance product is rose essential oil, which is completely different from Rose hip/fruit Oil. Both are very good and important aromatherapy ingredient, but they belong to different categories.

  • N S says:

Thanks, now give us poor people the dupes for these dupes 😂

  • Amy Bonds says:

  • Skating Canuck says:

Thanks for posting this super useful video. Could you please post a dupe video for hair care products? I would love to find a dupe for DRYBAR Prep Rally Prime & Prep Detangler.

  • Janet Kafadar says:

Absolutely loooved this video – thank you. I've been using Dr Hart Ceramidin (which has been ok) – but never knew there was water moisturiser.

Here's a Q for you BW: I have dry dehydrated skin (and live in Australia and it's very dry where I live) and I've always wondered can you ever get rid of dry dehydrated skin? Even though I'm using products for my skin type and testing what's working best. Do people stay with the same skin type for ever? Or do you always have dry or dehydrated skin and just have to learn to live/manage it?

Maybe a silly Question – but interested to know what others think.

  • Munira Ali says:

Can you talk about Kp on cheeks

  • Lindsey G says:

I've recently have switched to using clean/green products in my skincare routine and am IN LOVE with Eminence Organics! Has Beauty Within ever experimented or tried the brand? Does anyone else enjoy this brand? I feel like it's very appropriately priced for the quality of products! 😀

  • Hej Ericson says:

Seriously, we need to stop encouraging mixing emulsions with diffrent form of reactive agents. It causes instable photoaging reactions and it's a waiste of your money. Stick to pharmacy dermatologist created emulsions and stick to intutive evidensebased skincare to adress patogenic indications. Everything is chemichal. The diffrence is that FDA does regulate pharmacy dermatologist created emulsions. This makes me sad with perfume scents and whatnots mixed without knowing chemistry or basic biology.

  • J.J.Vancura says:

Great video and lots of info!

  • Edie &Andy says:

Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence is another dupe for SKII, I think it actually has something like 94% Galactomyces and SKII is 90%. I think it might be a little bit lighter in texture but it’s pretty comparable. I’ve used the Missha one as well, it’s a bit more viscous than the SKII but like everybody says it’s a pretty good dupe too.

  • Gia Linh Pham says:
