A first look at Kesha’s makeup line, ‘Kesha Rose Beauty’

A first look at Kesha’s makeup line, ‘Kesha Rose Beauty’

KESHA: I’m not just
one type of woman. I’m a lot of things. I believe the quote is
I’m [BLEEP] everything. [MUSIC PLAYING] Hey, guys. This is Kesha, and we’re about
to get very colorful and weird with my new makeup line, Kesha
Rose Beauty with “In the Know.” I’ve used my face as a
canvas for all sorts of experimentation over the years. I thought, I’ve had shit on
my face for like a decade. I should make some because
I know what I like. So I have just put out my
very first makeup line. I chose to collab with Hipdot. Mutually, we respect each
other, at least from my end. It was just all-in,
game on, let’s do it. I’ve been so inspired
by makeup forever. When I think of makeup, I
think of self-expression, and I think of David Bowie. There’s so many iconic
looks that he did throughout the years,
but one of my favorites is obviously the
lightning bolt eyeball. That’s so iconic. But there’s also
one where he had a red, glowing orb on his face. Bowie, I hope you
would wear this makeup. So I’m initially
releasing five products. One is an eye shadow palette
called the FTW palette. If you don’t know
what that stands, for you should Google it. Each color is named after
a song that I have released or I’m going to release. There’s one in there
that is unreleased, so it’s something fun
to look forward to. One of my favorite colors
in the world a chartreuse. I could never find a chartreuse. It’s my favorite color. I love this color. Why is there no eye
shadow that is this color? So I put a whole team
of people through hell and back trying to find that
perfect chartreuse color. And that’s in the palette. Each color is very versatile. If you add just a little
bit of water to them, they get more pigmented. You can mix and match them. I highly encourage people to do
whatever the [BLEEP] they want, really. From there. I thought about
what is essential? I thought of a eyeliner
that will not move. The liner, I swear to
you, you can sleep in it. You can jump on a pool in it. You can do a lot of things
with it, and it does not move. It’s perfect for
before the hangover. It’s perfect for after,
when you have the hangover. It’s perfect for going
out and partying. I’m the girl that will fall
asleep with the eyeliner on, wake up the next day, and
just fill it back in where it’s kind of missing pieces. Too busy– maybe just too lazy. Last but not least,
I have a lip duo. So I’m wearing
Raising Hell, which is named after my first single. I always wear the lip gloss. It might be my favorite
product on the line, but I know for
sure it’s the thing that’s always in my purse,
always in my bag– always. I’m obsessed with this product. It’s a clear,
moisturizing lip gloss. It smells like roses. It plumps your lips,
and then whatever the pH level on your skin, it’ll
give you your own special pink. And I like to put that on
my lips, my cheeks, my eyes. It makes me feel like I’m
doing something with my life. So I’m a believer that beauty
is all about how you feel. And I’m really into auras. So I recently had my
aura picture taken, and I was all the colors. So I feel the most
comfortable when I feel like I look
on the outside like I feel on the inside. If I were an animal, I think I
would be some sort of octopus, because they change
as they move, and they kind of do
whatever they want. And they like all the colors. Or like a parrot fish
because they have all the colors going on too. Or like a chameleon. They also change colors. I’m really a big fan of
color, in case nobody has gathered that information. So recently, for the AMAs, I
had an entirely different idea of what I was going to wear. And then, I just had a moment
of being like, no, I want to wear a robe on a red carpet. I just really wanted
to feel like a tiger, ready to just [BLEEP] shit up. I wanted to go with
hair that was just wet, and let my mullet kind of live. And I knew I wanted
tiger eyes, because I know when I have that
kind of makeup on, it makes me feel fierce. And then, hopefully
that translates into the performance. I feel like I’m
not just one thing, I’m not just one genre of music. And I addressed that
on my new album. So I wanted to have that
reflective in my makeup. I recently played
“Raising Hell” into a secret, surprise performance
of TikTok at the AMAs– always nerve-racking. And I have found that
the makeup actually feels empowering to me. It helps me get in the zone. It makes me feel
fierce, and kind of makes me feel like I can
take on an award show stage. The point where you
get to actually perform your song for people
that know the words, and are freaking out,
and jumping up and down, and singing it with you is– it’s giving me chills. That’s why I do what I do. I want to be just
obnoxiously fun. So I wanted to play
TikTok, first of all, because it’s TikTok’s 10 year
anniversary, which is insane. And I wanted to– really, I wanted to
do it for the fans. My fans have been through
all the things with me, and have stood by my side, and
have been the driving force for basically my entire life. I just put out a song
that’s me reclaiming my joy as an adult woman
that’s been through some stuff. And then I wanted to circle back
to where it all started from. So my new record is
called “High Road.” it’s honest. It’s celebratory. And it’s explicit. Every single song has the
little “E” next to it. Isn’t that what it’s for? Explicit? Bad words. There are some songs
that are celebrating going out and getting tattoos. And then there are some
songs like “Resentment.” For me, as an artist, the
highest form of respect is collaborating. So to be able to say
I’ve collaborated with Sturgill, Brian, and
Wrabel on one song still is blowing my mind. Some of my favorite musicians
that I respect so much actually want to
work with me also, and just that feeling just
makes me feel like the 10 years I’ve been doing this,
people are seeing who I am.
