She is making a living as an Instagram model, she had more than 1 million followers and she was quite a sight for sore eyes. Except that she turned out to be a sore eye herself after undergoing a cosmetic procedure that is controversial, to say the least. Nadinne Bruna wanted to change her eye color from brown to light grey and she had silicone implanted to achieve this. Did it work well? It certainly did something to her eyesight. Nadine flew to Bogota, Colombia to have her procedure performed in 2016, as retinal implants are illegal in the United States, but apparently, she wasn’t put off by the FDA not approving the procedures she was interested in. Moreover, she got a good discount and paid just $3,000 for the procedure, with a condition to post pictures with her results on her Instagram account. Good advertising, right? Only that the procedure didn’t give her what she wanted, but instead caused a lot of trouble and health issues. At 32 years old Nadine lost 80% of the vision in her right eye and 50% in her left after opting to have silicone implants inserted to transform her eyes from hazel green to a light gray color. The Instagram model declares that her eyes were healthy before the procedure and afterwards, the pupils no longer adjust to the light. In her own words, “the surgery completely effed up my life”. Even if she had the implant removed upon her return to the United States the damage done was irreparable. Aside from this, Nadine finds it difficult to land modeling jobs as her eyes were red for over a year. It is important to understand that you are playing a dangerous game of Russian roulette with your life and well-being when going abroad to get surgery that is illegal in the United States. The damage can be irreparable, just like in the case of Nadinne, who is now spending her savings to pay for her living. This is a very unfortunate situation, patient is absolutely gorgeous, there was no need to put her health at risk. There are many cosmetic procedures in other parts of the world that are not approved in the United States. If you visit your doctor in the United States and he does not recommend a procedure because it is illegal and the consequences are not acceptable, don’t go out of the country to get this procedure done. The same thing occurs with many different illegal buttock injections that are not approved in the United States. People will go out of the country and come back with a lot of issues that are difficult to correct.
