D.C. Huntress | Makeup Tutorial

For today’s tutorial I’ll be doing a Huntress makeup look. I’ve been so excited to film this. I’ve been thinking about this all week and I finally got around to doing it. It is definitely a lot more difficult than any other makeup looks that I’ve done but it was super fun to film and I hope you enjoy today’s tutorial. I’m going to start out with my eyes. I’m going to put a tiny bit of foundation on the back of my hand. And then using this Real Techniques setting brush I’m gonna put a little bit of foundation over my eye to neutralize the color. Then I’m going to put a tiny bit of concealer under my eye Using a different setting brush I’m going to set my eyes with this translucent powder. Next i’m going to do some winged liner. I’m gonna make it really thick and bring it all the way into the inner corner. I really brought the black into the inner corner and made a wing in the inner corner. And this kind of gives the overall liner look a bit more of like a longer and winged cat eye shape. And then now I’m going to tightline. I’m taking a small clean brush and smudging the black liner into my lashline. Next I’m going to take this wet n’ wild brush and some of this white shadow and just highlight underneath my brow bone. And then lastly for my eyes I’m going to put mascara on. I look like a bug right now but I’m now doing the outline of the mask and this is the photo I’m using as reference. So I went ahead and I finished putting mascara on and then I also took some black shadow and further smoked out the lower lashline and it’s slightly cleaner I’m not sure if you can tell but now I’m just gonna go ahead and use this eyeliner and finish out outlining the mask. So where my eyebrow starts to curve and following this line that’s where I’m gonna put the kind of other points. Okay so I got the base of the mask shape outlined and now I’m gonna go ahead and just clean up some of the edges with some makeup remover and a q-tip. I got this palette from ben nye and it has these cream colors in it and people use these palettes for like costume, theater, and special effects stuff it’s really great for these more intense makeup tutorials and I’m taking equal parts red and blue and now I’m going to mix them together to make a deep purple. Now that I’ve made this purple I’m going to take this and fill in the mask. As I get to the edges of the mask I’m mixing it in with the black liner and it makes it slightly darker in those areas and gives the color a little bit more dimension. This cream doesn’t dry down so if you place the color you can take your time with other areas and you’ll be able to come back and rework it. I mentioned how this cream doesn’t set so now I have to set it. I’m gonna take this matte shadow from makeup geek in the color curfew just this purple. Because this is so creamy what I’m going to do is take the end of this brush scrape this shadow into a powder and then I’m going to use that to set the purple. Because if I just go in with brush and then onto the cream and back into the shadow the cream will get into this pressed shadow and it can get ruined that way. If you have a loose shadow that will be much easier but I don’t so this is what I’m doing. You could even do this with a translucent powder. I’m not sure if that would work but you could test that out and see. I’m taking this smaller fluffy brush and getting the edges. Even though I set it I still have to be careful not to transfer the purple because it still is somewhat creamy. Next I’m taking this small concealer brush and putting foundation on the rest of my face. and of course as I get to the edge of the mask I’m going to be very careful. Next I’m taking this setting brush and I’m going to set my foundation with this translucent powder. Now to add more dimension to my face and make it look like the mask is sitting on my face I’m going to take this mid-tone brown and this small brush and kind of work this in along the edges to create a shadow. its getting so hot in here! Now that it looks a bit more like the mask is sitting on my face I’m going to add more dimension to the mask I’m going to take this metallic purple in the color masquerade from makeup geek and a fluffy brush and just put this where I would put highlighter. So along here I’m taking a smaller brush. Use the same color and then highlight kind of above my brow. I’m going over my brow slightly as well. Then I’m gonna do the center part of the mask. To exaggerate that even more I’m taking the color daydreamer and putting that right in the center everywhere I just highlighted. We are getting near the end. For the final part of the mask I’m gonna take this liquid liner and outlining it. I’m using this one from NYX and its a vinyl liquid liner so it kind of dries shiny. I just find that that effect works better for the mask. You can use a matte one if you have that too. You can definitely skip this step because it is a lot more difficult. But I’m obviously doing it. Don’t want to mess up. Mask is finally done and all I have to do is the lips. I’ve been sitting here for hours by the way. First I’m going to fill in my lips with the color leather from colourpop. I like never use this color and Natasha and I were goin through our makeup and getting rid of stuff. She was like lets get rid of that and I’m like no we have to hold onto it because I know I’m going to use it if I do any like, any makeup tutorials like this. Now for Huntress she’s had many many different types of masks and sometimes in the comics her lips are are purple and sometimes they’re red. I’m gonna go ahead and mix some of this besame lipstick on over the purple so it gives more of a berry color. And also in the newer versions of huntress she has like the kind of ears that come up but I didn’t feel like making those. I’m kind of following the mask that she has on in the Nightwing/Huntress comics. Now I’m going to take this matte liquid liner and outline my lips. I’m gonna take the liner again and draw some lines on my lips to make it kind of that comic book effect. Okay and this is the finished look, I think it turned out pretty well. If you follow me on Instagram you would’ve seen yesterday, I’m not sure when I’m going to upload this, that was monday I did a test run of this. I did a different shape for the mask but I think it turned out much better today. I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial.
