How Much Does Liposuction Cost?

so a general overview of liposuction the principal is removing fat via very small incision so we make an incision that is four millimeters which is very very narrow and through that incision we insert a very tiny long narrow cannula and through that we liposuction out fat and it can be from one area of the body like the hips or the abdomen or really wherever the patient wants it the variables for cost of liposuction are mainly the amount of time spent so if there is and it doesn’t always mean that there’s a lot of fat to remove it can be a relatively small person that has a very fine area sometimes that can actually take longer because we’re using really tiny little cannulas and it has to be back and forth multiple times but if I’m in the operating room for multiple hours it’s going to cost more that I’ve been that I’ve been operating room for you know 30 minutes or an hour so it’s really mostly about the time there’s not a lot of added equipment costs with the exception of adding something like the Vazer which is a way of adding heat to the skin to get some contraction so that can add a little bit of price as well in terms of our average cost for liposuction we determine that by the area so if we’re doing the abdomen the abdomen is considered one area the flanks kind of around the back is considered another area so the first area is four thousand dollars and then subsequent areas are half price so if we do the abdomen it would be four thousand if we do the abdomen plus the flanks it would be six and that’s the surgeons cost so there’s also the anesthesia costs and the o.r that has to be factored in if you do one area liposuction it can be like I said full price which is four thousand dollars and subsequent price subsequent areas would be half off but that also holds true for example we’re doing a breast augmentation so we’re doing a breast augmentation that price is usually around seven thousand dollars and then if we were doing an area of lipo after rather than that area of lipo being a four thousand dollar area it would actually only be two thousand dollars so the way that we run our pricing structures our first procedure is charged at full price whatever the most expensive procedure is and then serial procedures after that are a half price so in that example of breasts aug is seven thousand dollars the liposuctions that have been four it would be two the only factor that I can think of that would really increase the cost would be the amount of time we’re going send in the operating room so if we’re removing lots of fat from multiple different areas that we’re doing the arms and the thighs and the stomach and the flanks and all that it’s going to be an all-day ordeal and that’s going to take a little bit longer than if we’re just going in and doing a little bit on one side of the abdomen so time in the operating room is the chief cost issue when it comes to liposuction in terms of what can make liposuction cost more from practice to practice the way we might be more expensive or less expensive than the other practice anesthesia cost is a big one so we do 99 percent of our liposuction procedures asleep because we think we can get a better result if the patient is completely asleep and relaxed and we’re able to just work in the operating room but that adds some cost and so another practitioner for example might say well we’ll do your liposuction awake now in my mind that’s not going to be as good of a result though it is going to be cheaper other things that might influence the cost our experience so all of our surgeons are board certified we’ve all done lots and lots of training and we do lots and lots lots and lots of liposuction and we think that we’re really good at it and so our cost is at a slight premium for that reason our policy our achieveing a desired result is really up to the physician my policy I’ll speak for myself in particular my policy is that if I think I can make it better for you I will do so and I do it at no surgeons fee so there may still be an anesthesia cost and an OR cost but the vast the largest charge of being in the operating room in surgery is my fee and if it’s someone that I think I could have done a better job on or I see that area that they don’t like and I think you can be improved upon I try my best to improve upon it I don’t want to charge someone I want it you know make them happy regarding what can make liposuction cheaper and what to avoid sometimes it might be a really good deal for example it could just be a special and someone is basically like a plastic surgeon who might be really good is just trying to get more business because they’re slow that time of year but it could also conversely be that someone maybe isn’t board certified in their specialty or it might be a practitioner that has recently bought a new machine and they’re trying to learn how to use it and that can be the kind of thing that you want to avoid because obviously there’s a learning curve associated with liposuction and so if it’s a new person or a new machine or new technology you could be the person that’s going to get a complication go ahead and
