How to Buy Wholesale Liquidation Cosmetics

Hi, my name is Nathania, and I’m with Via Trading Corporation, a leading liquidator of wholesale merchandise in the US I’m going to take 5 minutes today and just teach you a little bit about purchasing wholesale liquidation cosmetics So I’m going to take you through three of the most common Product conditions that you can encounter when buying wholesale liquidation cosmetics to help you make the best decision for your business First type of Cosmetics that you find in the liquidation industry are the shelf pull cosmetics Now “shelf pulls” means that items were at one point on the shelf at the retail store chain And at the end of the month, or at the end of the season, or whenever they bring in new stock, those stores need to liquidate that inventory They take them off the shelves and they send them to liquidators like ourselves. These items, because they’ve been on the shelves, They’ve been touched. They’ve been handled. Usually they’ve not been opened, but customers have looked at them and have put them back on the shelf Occasionally the cardboard packaging may be dented or dirty or torn somewhere warehousing and transportation In any given lot you may receive a small percentage of imperfect items. Either the packaging will be somehow damaged or the item itself So you need to be aware and ready to expect a small percentage of throw away items that you would not find in Brand-new lines They’re typically very cost effective. You may be paying really pennies on the dollar. Plus the items are not in pristine condition These items tend to be excellent for yard sales Flea markets, even wholesaling them on other smaller retailers And they can also be good for online sales if you’re willing to put in the work to clean some of the items that may be dirty from the warehousing and transportation. So we have an example right here of a box of shelf pull cosmetics As we can see, these items are excellent condition They are still in original packaging. However some of them All of them actually, will have original retail stickers from the store. These are always going to be mixed Generally speaking, when you purchase shell pull cosmetic lots, it’s going to be an assortment of the mascaras, lip items, foundation Compact powders, nail polish, nail stickers Blush… anything you can think of within the umbrella of cosmetics is likely to appear in these lots. Shelf Pull Cosmetics are an excellent choice for yard sales, flea markets and people want a wide assortment in one small purchase Also, liquidation cosmetics can also be purchased in new overstock condition. Now, new overstock products means that they were Manufactured for a retail store, but never actually made it onto the shelves. This means They’re brand new condition, and that they come in their original retail packaging when appropriate Or some items do not have any packaging at all. So they’ll come exactly as they were intended to go to the store Now these lots are typically purchased assorted. You’ll receive a mix of items within any given box with different colors and different products Anything from foundations, to nail items To lipsticks, lip glosses, mascaras eyeliners… the works. Now, these items have never been opened They are brand new. In the majority of cases they do not come in their master case packaging you will not have any manufacture dates or expiration dates on them. Luckily Cosmetics have a very long shelf life, so in most cases that’s not an issue But it is something to be aware of. Also, you won’t be able to pick and choose your colors They will come with whatever assortment the liquidator has on hand and usually these were colors that were discontinued or that were liquidated for a particular reason. Either out of season, or it’s last season’s color Or it wasn’t overrun… So depending on how you plan to sell the items, you should be aware of what Constitutes an overstock item and wisely liquidate it. Now as you can see over here The items may also come packed in sets They’re going to come carded when appropriate. In this case They will not have any markings on the packaging and no security tags at all. They’ll be completely retail ready. These items tend to be excellent for online sales Many people choose to make little gift sets. So they’ll take a mascara, a lipstick, an eyeshadow And they will create little gift bags with a little bow and sell those for $20 per gift bag with four items in it so to make a higher dollar profit on each individual sale Another way to buy wholesale cosmetics is buying Master Cases. Now Master Case items means the items come in their original factory packaging. When the manufacturer manufactures and packages them for distribution to retailers, they put them in these brown boxes with an official sticker, the UPC code, manufacture date codes and other information. And it goes on to the distributor. Now when distributors order too much, or manufactures Manufacture too much and they don’t manage to place them in their regular channels, they go on to Liquidators. So you can find products in Master case Just like this, that are going to be brand new, never opened, sealed still with their plastic seal in many cases In some cases they’ll even still be wrapped, either in sets or sometimes in set of three, depending on how the manufacturer packages these for retail. Typically they’re going to be available one color for case So in a box like this, the items are going to be all the same color and all the same item. This is an advantage For people who have larger discount stores from multiple locations, where you want to funnel the same products towards multiple stores But it is a disadvantage for somebody who has a smaller operation who’s looking for a wider variety of products for their customers So master case items are great if you’re looking for brand new, Undamaged, still in original packaging and you can deal with a larger quantity of goods of the same style and the same color Master case products, due to the fact they are brand new and that you can pick and choose the colors that you want and the items that you want, Versus mix lots where you can’t pick and choose, you just take everything, they are a little bit more expensive Generally, you’ll be paying 20-30% of retail versus 5-10% when you’re dealing with mixes of assorted shelf full or overstock lots But this is an excellent way to get started with brand new products whether you have an online store or A discount store, and you want to know exactly what you’re getting with no surprises. Master Case cosmetics would be the way to go.
