How to Walk Like a Model : Facial Expressions & Runway Models

Now what I’m going to be showing you are facial
expressions for a professional model on the ramp. What I’d like for you to do is pay close
attention to my face because I’m not just going to be bored with the whole thing. Facial
expressions really matter. They create interest from the audience for your performance, so
what I’d like to do now is just create eyebrows up, eyes looking. Make sure that they can
see you are feeling really good about this. Keep that smile so that as you move you notice
that you are very fixed on the feeling of feeling good about this. Again, watch the
face. You can see a lot of power coming out of the feeling I have about modeling. And
a strong focus that focuses forward into the camera, eyes totally open, big smile for the
children. But for the adults and the teens, I just want you to stay confident looking,
never looking down, never looking side-to-side, but feeling really good about what you’re
doing. So that face, it’s the feeling within, the self-confidence that gives you the powerful
look, and that’s very important that you can maintain it throughout your walk. I don’t want to look bored, I don’t want to
look sad and I don’t want to look nervous, so definitely don’t dip the chin down. Keep
the eyes straight into camera with the chin parallel to the floor so that you are able
to, again, keep the arms swinging up and back and the walk overlapping for the ladies. Now
for the men it’s the same look. Keep that power look and also move backwards with your
feet side-by-side. You definitely want to keep that power look going the entire time
you’re focused into the camera or modeling on a ramp.
