(pleasant piano music) – Hello, my name is Dr. Kevin Maguire, and I’m the chief of plastic surgery here at the University of
Vermont Medical Center. Specifically here at UVM, we’re a regional referral center, so we tend to see some of the most challenging
clinical presentations. So as a surgical provider,
it really draws on the years of training, all the way back to the classroom of molecular genetics to those hours in the operating room to try to solve the problems that we see in the best way. So what’s most rewarding about what I do? And let’s step back just for a bit and say plastic surgery comes from the Greek root plasticos, which means to restore, to mend, to mold, so for me, being a plastic surgeon,
the most rewarding thing is giving back to people. Giving back normal form, normal function, and I experience it as a form of personal empowerment for that individual, so you help them be their whole self, their best self, so they
can enjoy their life.
